Cuttlebug Fun

I decided it was time to organize my Cuttlebug folders, so I searched for a way to use my Cricut to make file folders. Needless to say, I was excited when I found that Okieladybug’s Scrap N’More had created Cuttlebug folders using the George cartridge and posted them on her blog for everyone to use. She also created a version using Plantin. Thanks Okie for designing and sharing these files. Please check out her blog while you are there….it is amazing!

Next, I decorated a white tin container using left over buttons. For this project, I used the Cosmo Cricket Material Girl paper stack and tons of buttons. Here are a few pictures of the final project.

I love my Cuttlebug and use it frequently. However, when I used it on thinner papers it would always crack the paper. For a quick and easy way to prevent your paper from cracking please check out the video below.

I just found your site & HAD to try the cuttlebug folders. Spent 2 hours trying to convert my 64 bit Vista into something compatible with Design Studio so I could cut them, but it was SOOOO worth it. I LOVE how they turned out! (as it is 5:45 in the morning & I couldn't go to sleep until I finished them, should be your 1st clue how much I love them). :) One question though. You said you ran yours through Microsoft Word. What size font did you use & how did you get it to line up/print on the tabs correctly? I would love to replicate that part as well but can't figure it out. Thanks for any hints you can give (if you could spell it out for me that would be even better, as I am a computer nimbwit). Thanks again to you & Okieladybug for sharing!

Great idea. I'm glad I was directed to your blog!

would it be too much to ask for those label instructions, please!?! I can't EVER get MS Word to do anything I want and I'm constantly wasting paper printing things sideways and half off the page and well, I'm a MS Word disaster. So, if you wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate the same tips you offered Traci.
Thanks, stacie (hestiashelper): hestiashelper at gmail dot com

This is fantastic! Thank you for sharing, and for your video.

If it's not too much trouble, I would love the e-mail explaining how to do the tabs as well. Thanks again!

Thanks everyone for your questions and comments. Here are the directions:

First,I create a text box in Word approximately the same size as the folder. You will need to readjust the text box for all three cuts. I then use removable tape and taped the folder to a white sheet of printer paper. Next, I ran the card stock taped to the printer paper through the printer. Be sure to adjust your printer to accommodate thicker paper. Also remember to remove the border from the text box before printing. Lastly, I score and then emboss. I do not have a Gyspy so not sure this will work with gyspy but worked great with DS.

I used a similar process on my video decorating the inside of my card. Here is a link. http://paperboutique.blogspot.com/2010/06/quick-and-easy-ideas-for-decorating.html

Please let me know if I can help and thanks so much for your kind words on my blog. PS It will hold over 20 folders.

Thanks so much,

I have heard that if you spray the paper with a spray bottle/water it helps the paper not crack ;0)

Your project on doing a holder for the cuttlebug folders is fantastic. I recently started card making and it seems like my collection is growing so I know that I will be making this and sharing the link with my paper crafting friends. Thanks a million for this great project.

This is a wonderful project! TFS and I love the file folders embossed for each embossing folder. You have also helped solved the "tearing" when embossing thin cardstock.

This is great, I covered a tin a long time ago. I just recently purchased a cuttlebug, and was trying to figure out a good way to store the folders.

Question about the folders- I went to the okiladybug site, but wasn't sure how the folders were made. In a cricut machine? If so, I downloaded the file and tried to upload to Design Space and it didn't work. Where did you import the files to cut and then use-? This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing!
